This Saturday, Steven Kellogg and Stuart J. Murphy visited the children's room sharing the secrets of their stories and illustrations. Below is Children's Librarian, Lorraine Der with both authors.

Terrific Twos and Threes is Back!
If you're in the mood for a drop-in Storytime, come Monday mornings from 11:00-11:30 for Terrific Twos and Threes with Kate! This program is designed for toddlers aged 2 & 3, with stories, songs, fingerplays and dancing. Older and younger siblings are welcome. Now through June 11th, except Memorial Day.

Highlights from School Vacation Week!
While it was a short week here at the library, it was packed with lots of fun for those kids home from school. Wednesday, the Museum of Science Traveling Program brought a small planetarium for the One Sky, Many Stories program. About 100 children and adults had the opportunity to attend and all who did loved it.Thursday was annual Kite Day here and fun was had by multiple generations.These are just two pictures from the events. And the fun doesn't stop there- tomorrow award winning children's author and illustrator Steven Kellogg and his good friend Stuart Murphy are coming to the library - don't miss this fantastic event. Saturday, April 21 at 2:00 pm. Click for all the details.

Registration - Many Programs Still Open
Registration began this past Monday, but there are still spots available in many of our weekly programs. Baby Bookworms (both 10:30 and 11:00), Terrific Twos & Threes, Rhythm & Rhyme, Legomania and World of Wizarding still have space available. Stop by the Children's Room to sign up or ask any questions you have.
Also, if you haven't signed up for our school vacation event One Sky, Many Stories be sure to do so! The program takes place on Wednesday, April 18. There is still space available in several sessions and the Museum of Science never disappoints. Click for more details.

Buzz Lightyear at the Library!

On Thursday, March 29 Susan Roth and Cindy Trumbore, author and illustrator of The Mangrove Tree discussed their book and demonstrated the collage process used to illustrate the book. Below are a few pictures from the event.

Paws to Read is Back!
Tessie, a certified therapy dog,
through Therapy Dog Inc.,
to the Children's Room.
Readers who are in Kindergarten through 3rd grade
are invited to sign up to meet Tessie and read a book to her.
Each session will last approximately 10 minutes.
Pre-registration is required.
Please see a librarian at the children's desk to sign up.
A parent's signature is required for participation.
Tessie's has 2 sessions in April! Sign up to read to Tessie
either April 17 at 10:30 am or April 25 at 4:00 pm.

Community Read Collage Workshop - Fun for All!
Today we kicked off our Community Read Events with a Collage Workshop. Children had a chance to create a piece of art in the same style as The Mangrove Tree. Below are a few pictures of the event, but if you missed out on this, be sure you make it tomorrow when the author and illustrator discuss their art at 3:00 pm here at the library. Then be sure to head over to Gordon College to hear Dr. Sato speak about his work with The Manzanar Project. Click for all the details on those events.

More information on Special Spring Programs
Full information about some of our special spring programs is now available.
The Museum of Science Traveling programming is joining us once again this April vacation. This time they are presenting One Sky, Many Stories. This fantastic program will be offered four times Wednesday, April 18. All the information about this program can be found here.
You can register for this program beginning today, March 23, but it must be done in person, in the Children's Room.
Thursday, April 19 will be our annual Kite Day. No registration is necessary for this great event, but you can find all the details here.
We are also having a special You Can Do Magic! Magic Workshop for kids ages 8 and up. Children will learn beginning magic tricks with cards, a wand, and other magic props. Children will get to take these props home with them to continue the fun after the workshop. This great program will take place 3 Wednesdays April 26 - May 10. Informational Flyer. You can also register for this program beginning today, but as always, registration must be done in person, in the Children's Room.

Drop-In Music and Movement Draws a Huge Crowd
This past Tuesday, the Kiwi Girl Studio previewed one of their Music and Movement classes for us. Over 50 children were able to join in the fun.
