Story Writing Contest Deadline EXTENDED!

LAST CHANCE!!!

  Time is running out!    

We can ONLY accept submissions this week - but we have extended the deadline to
Sunday, November 25th, so that children have the weekend to work on those final touches! 

You can e-mail it to lder@hwlibrary.org, or drop it off at the Library. 
We are open Friday and Saturday during our regular hours.

Thank you for all those that have already submitted your stories!

Start writing your original story and submit it by Friday, November 23, 2018 by 5:00 p.m.

Winners will be announced Friday, December 7

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes and honorable mentions will be awarded to winners from each age group:

All entries that follow the guidelines will receive a prize!

Your submission, name and age will appear on our blog online and be displayed here in the Children's Room.

YOUNG WRITER'S WORKSHOP

In celebration of Massachusetts Family Literacy Month and National Novel Writing Month, join us for an introduction to story writing with fun activities and exercises! 

This program is designed for children ages 8 to 12.

No experience or registration necessary.

Calling all Pumpkin Decorators!

There is still time to enter your pumpkins in our annual pumpkin Decorating Contest! Get creative and then bring in your decorated pumpkins by Wednesday, October 31st.

Children of all ages welcome!

Every participant gets a prize!

PAWS to Read

Read to Tessie the Therapy Dog

Monday, September 17

Sign up to read to Tessie! Reading time slots begin at 3:30 p.m. and are 10 minutes in length. Tessie is a certified therapy dog, through Therapy Dog Inc. Children who are in Kindergarten through 3rd grade are invited to meet with Tessie and read together. Reading to Tessie boosts confidence and improves language skills.

Pre-registration is required. Please visit the Children's Room desk for more information or to register.
